Sound production by certain species of fishes could be differentiated by analyzing the sound characteristics that they produced.

Terapon jorbua as one of soniferous fishes generates a single click, double clicks, and a series of tones within certain characteristics.

Variability of temperature and light conditions at the day and night periods had influenced the daily sound production of T.

jorbua.

Although unable to be given significant effect on the sound characteristics, it had influenced the sound productivity of fish.

Number of sound in fish group was increased toward midnight (light condition is dark) and at peak of the day (light condition is bright) where the temperature was minimum and maximum.

In contrast, sound productivity of individual fish was increased when the light condition was changed both from dark to bright and from bright to dark.
