The sociology of death is one of the topics that has no importance to sociologists in the Arab society.

So this research studies the social and cultural aspects of death in Sudanese community by applying it to Khartoum city, through studying social and cultural variables with subjective and objective meanings of death.

This research also studies the relationship between the burial of the dead and the place and time, as well as the relations between the burial of the deceased and his social status and relations, and the relationship between burying the dead and religious affiliation.

The research proceeds towards a major goal of studying the social and cultural dimensions of death in Sudanese community.

The study used the descriptive method, using the interview and observation tools to collect the field data.

The general results of this research is a set of facts about declaration of death and what it expresses about social cohesion, since death is about the social aspect more than biological fact.

As for burying the dead, the research concluded that the burial process and subsequent social acts express social meanings and indications of the reality of biological death.

his is shown by the variables of social status and kingship relation and religious affiliation of the deceased person or his family.
