الملخص EN

This study aimed at investigating the family health concepts in Arabic Language textbooks for the upper basic stage of education in Jordan.

The total number of textbooks are 14.

The study used the descriptive approach employing content analysis.

To achieve the aims of the study‘ the researcher collected a list of family health concepts available in the sample textbooks.

The list was used as a tool to analyze the textbooks.

To achieve the validity of the tool‘ it was reviewed by a number of specialists.

The reliability was (99%).

The instrument included 37 sub concept distributed on seven main domains.

The study concluded with a number of results: the overall frequencies of the family health concepts in the sample text book were (3295) ‘ of which (1201) frequencies were noticed in the Ninth Grade Arabic Language textbook with a percentage of (36%).

In the Tenth Grade Arabic Language textbook‘ the frequencies were (998) with (30%) ‘ followed by the Eighth Grade textbook (614) with (19%).

The Seventh Grade textbook bottomed the list with (482) frequencies and (15%).

The study offered a number of recommendations: one of these is the importance of the balance of presenting these concepts in the textbooks and having a list of the family health concepts according to the stage of education and class level‘ which can be presented within the textbooks.
