الملخص الإنجليزي

This study aims to examine the effect of market orientation on the financial business performance of the listed companies in Palestine Exchange(PEX) and the subsidiaries for the listed holding companies which reside in West Bank and Gaza Strip where both subjective and objective measurement approaches have been used to measure the financial indicators for the targeted companies.

The research followed the descriptive analytical approach.

Data was collected through a questionnaire.

A total of (62) completed questionnaires were retrieved and analyzed using SPSS program.

A descriptive analysis was conducted to analyze the financial reports for (34) companies in order to provide their financial indicators of ROA and ROS for the study period (2014-2016) and the same financial indicators were calculated for the base year 2013 and compared with the average of the financial indicators in the study period.

Findings confirm that MARKOR scale is a valid and reliable measure of market orientation in case of the listed companies in PEX, where the listed companies in PEX are highly market oriented and they usually practicing the market orientation main activities that is represented by generation the marketing intelligence , intelligence dissemination to the concerned departments and apply a proper response according to this intelligence; moreover, the results show that the dimensions of market orientation (intelligence generation, intelligence dissemination and responsiveness) individually doesn't have a significant effect on the subjective measures of financial business performance.

On the other hand, the overall model of market orientation which consists of the aggregated three dimensions as one independent variable has a positive effect on the subjective measures of financial performance; moreover, the results of the descriptive analysis for the financial indicators show a positive contribution for market orientation in improving the financial business performance for the targeted population.

The study recommends that managers need constantly hold different training courses to strengthen the employees of marketing and sales departments which enhance their skills to be able to understand their customers' needs and apply an appropriate response according the market intelligence they generated.

Also, they need to coordinate between the marketing, research and development, production and sales departments to increase the value for the organization and its customers.
