the Threat of Statelessness in Sudan was not a challenge until the independency of South Sudan in 2011.

Threat of Statelessness has appeared as one of the biggest humanitarian problems, which resulted in a great hurt to wide segments from the society.

This study focuses on the social and economic impact of the problem which can be formulated in the question below: What are the social and economic impact of the threat of the statelessness? The study has implemented the analytical descriptive method, and has provided close description for the society which is composed of the threat of statelessness category who lived in Kassala and Algadarif states in eastern Sudan.

Most of them were descended from the southern Sudan ethnic groups, in addition to a number of refugees related to neighboring countries who do not have the documents proving their legal residency.

The study employed the intention sample as there is no official statistic available, and also no clear definition of where they live.

The study has conducted many interviews and focus group discussions.

The main results of the study have come as follows: These groups suffer social problems, such as the disruption of their social ties, loss of their educational opportunities, and also they face economic problem as they have lost their immovable property, limited employment opportunities and the low standard of living of families.
