Social media, or what is known as social networks , are new types of journalism that have emerged and evolved thanks to the Internet and multimedia technology.

They play a prominent role in the collection, analysis, editing, and sharing of news amongst their users.

This confirms that the role of social networking sites is no longer confined to broadcasting and circulation of information, establishing and mantainining friendships in the framework of common topics of interest.

Moreover, Their various domains have expanded to include issues of different dimensions such as raising and spreading awareness in health and social fields.

Health awareness is of paramount importance in the lives of individuals and communities, especially for young people because of their strong association with, and adherence to the concepts of such aspect of awareness.

For that, we have to know first what the real role of social networking sites in youth health awareness is.

In this study, we will attempt to shed light on the social networking sites, especially the Facebook, and figure out the role it plays in developing, achieving, and spreading health awareness, based on the methods and patterns young people use in this regard
