Smartphones are deemed an effective means of communication, which assists the human being in the performance of various tasks.

The audio-visual media have successfully exploited such device in producing news reports and the like, without the need of studios, due to the great number of applications that a smartphone may comprise.

Unlike television channels, radio stations seem to have missed many of the benefits that the smartphone could offer.

This study aims, therefore, to shed light on how to produce radio programmes using smartphones.

Due to the modern nature of the topic under discussion, the exploratory approach has been adopted.

Data collection was conducted via observations, interviews and documentations.

Accordingly, we suggest, through the present study, to cast light on the use of smartphone by the local radio stations in producing their programmes
