European relations with the Arab Maghreb countries, for more than five decades, have revealed many paradoxes and clear contradictions.

On the one hand , the European union that is expected to reach comprehensive unity after increasing its members which has nearly doubled since the establishment.

This unity between the members of the European Union has been strengthened leading to economic growth .On the other hand, the aspirations of a Maghreb unity remain out of reach because of political crises and conflicts, and stagnation and ineffectiveness of its structures.

The absence of effective political will has had a fundamental impact on the non-activation of the union which prevented the optimal exploitation of the available possibilities and the valuation of its numerous potentials.
