الملخص EN
This study attempts to find out if there is any difference between American students who study Arabic for one year and those who study the same course in eight weeks which is called « intensive ».
It also attemps to find out whether or not there is a correlation between the student’s language learning aptitude and his /her achievement in the regular and intensive course.
The experiment was conducted at the University of Utah- The subjects of the experiment are American students who enrolled in the first year Arabic and students who took the same course in eight weeks only.
Comparing the scores of each group it was found a slight superiority of the regular students.
It was found that there is a high correlation between the Modern Language Aptitude Test (MLAT) and the achievement of the students in both groups.
الملخص FRE
Cette etude essaie de chercher s’il y a u ne difference entre des etudiants Americains qui ont eu une annee d’Arabe et ceux qui ont suivi un cours accelere dans la meme langue.
Elle essaie aussi de chercher s’il y a ou non une cor relation entre l’aptitude de l’etudiant a appren-dre une langue et son resultat a la fin du programme normal ou du cours accelere.
L’experience a ete conduite a l’Universite de l’Utah.
Les sujets etaient des etudiants americains qui etaient inscrits en premiere annee d’Arabe, et des etudiants qui ont regu un cours accelere de 8 semaines dans la meme langue.
En comparand les scores de chaque groupe, on a pu remarquer une legere superiority du premier groupe, par ra pport au second, c’est-a-dire, de ceux qui ont suivi le cours regulier, par rapport a ceux qui ont suivi le cours accelere.
La deuxieme consta-tation, etait une forte correlation entre le « Mo dern Language Aptitude Test » (MLAT), et les resultats des etudiants des deux groupes.
