This paper endeavors to approach al-Farabi's philosophy through presenting his concept of "happiness" as the cornerstone and ultimate goal of his philosophical system .

This, in my humble view, is a fresh and an-unprecedcnted reading of this great muslim philosopher.

The paper will try to achieve its intended goal by discussing many key concepts of al-Farabi's philosophy on politics, ethics, metaphysics, epistcmology and the like to demonstrate the above mentioned approach The paper docs not fail to give a comprehensive exposition of the idea of Happiness by explaining its concept as" a human attempt to raise from all materialistic concerns and transform himself spiritually', which - according to al- Farabi- should be tbc main function of any philosophy worth the name.
