Better mastering the housing design aims to conceive an environment for domestic life.

This ambition was reactivated in many fields of academic research, and especially through an interdisciplinary approach brewed between architecture, sociology and anthropology.

The human’s relations to the domestic space are revisited by different methods.

Those methods provide the opportunity to highlight the elements that can be applied to circumscribe the domestic spatiality, in order to integrate it into the housing design processes.

This article attempts to explain the theoretical and practical references which have shaped the formalization of this stream of mixed studies and the methodological implications that they support, focusing on the alternatives they imply for housing architecture

Mieux maitriser la conception de l'habitat comme milieu de vie est un objectif réactivé dans les champs de la recherche académique par une interdisciplinarité entre architecture, sociologie et anthropologie.

Les relations à l'espace domestique sont ainsi revisitées, selon différentes approches et méthodes, qui offrent la possibilité de mettre en évidence, les éléments pouvant circonscrire et instrumentaliser la spatialité domestique dans l'architecture de l'habitat.

Cet article tente d'expliquer les repères théoriques et pratiques qui ont cadré la formalisation de ce courant d'études métissées, ainsi que les implications méthodologiques qu'elles soutiennent, en mettant l'accent sur les alternatives qu'elles supposent pour la conception de l'habitat.
