This paper aims to enrich existing literature on the antagonistic reality of international monetary relations.

Based on a hypothetico-deductive method, we verified theoretically and empirically to what extent exchange rate manipulations, within the framework of the currency war, could be justified by a positive and significant impact on economic growth.

The empirical part was made, using an econometric analysis of panel data, of a sample of 12 countries over the period 1990-2017.

The results obtained are significant and suggest a positive effect of currency devaluations on the economic growth of the countries whose currencies are the most traded in the world economy.

This seems to confirm the reality of currency wars which characterize the relations between world economic powers.

الملخص FRE

L'objectif du présent article est d'enrichir la littérature sur la réalité antagonique des relations monétaires internationales.

Grace à la méthode hypothético-déductive, nous avons analysé théoriquement puis empiriquement dans quelle mesure les stratégies de manipulation du taux de change, dans le cadre de la guerre des monnaies, pouvaient être justifiées par un éventuel impact positif et significatif sur la croissance économique.

La partie empirique s'est faite, en recourant à une analyse économétrique des données de panel, d'un échantillon de 12 pays sur la période 1990-2017.

Les résultats obtenus sont significatifs et suggèrent un effet positif des dévaluations monétaires sur la croissance économique des pays dont les monnaies sont les plus échangées dans les flux économiques mondiaux.

Ceci confirme la réalité de guerre des monnaies qui caractérise les relations entre les puissances économiques mondiales.
