Abstract AR
Abstract EN
This papers aims at investigating the perceptions and practices of teachers at the department of English language at Setif 2 University regarding the intercultural approach to foreign language learning.
30 teachers participated through a questionnaire.
Results indicated that despite the teachers' beliefs that the integration of intercultural approach is important to foreign language instruction, and that intercultural communicative competence is undeniably an important competence, their practices with regards to the integration of intercultural approach did not reflect the basic principle of intercultural education.
Rarely teaching target and source culture explicitly, little reference to home culture, ence integration of culture teaching into language skills teaching, and small focus on learners intercultural communicative competence, these were the practices on intercultural language teaching of participants.
Teachers are encouraged to give more emphasis to intercultural approach integration in their classrooms, as it is believed to provide a better milieu for foreign language long-life learning.
