Abstract EN

The role of the wind in the development of alternative energy is a comparative study between Samawah and Mosul as a study in the field of applied climate.

The wind element is one of the important climatic elements in alternative energy.

This climate element has an impact on human life and its various activities.

The researcher relied on the data of a one-thirty-year climatic cycle for the Samawah and Mosul stations for the period (1983-2013).

The analysis of the data found that there is a high speed of wind in Samawah province, the province of Mosul can be invested in providing renewable energy to serve the province of Samawah, Wind to energy.

Wind speed is used to pump water.

Light wind speeds the lifting of groundwater into water tanks to pump either directly or by storing it in reservoirs and pumping it later.

These fans can operate at speeds of 2.5-3 m / Samawah station in November and December and Mosul station for the months of April and May, and in the case of distant depths Faisal use of air fans to generate electricity to run the electric water pumps that raise the water from those depths and storage and then re-so can benefit from pumping systems Water-operated pu Wind power to provide water to meet the needs of the population in the isolated areas of remote or desert for various human and agricultural uses in the study area, noting that the nature of flat surface and lack of concentration in the study area as well as prevailing climatic conditions that allow to provide the wind speed necessary to operate these pumps, Wind is less than (3 m / s) for November and December of Samawah station and for April and May of Mosul station.

Wind turbines are used in street lighting poles to provide enough electrical energy to charge a battery sufficient to ignite the luminescent lamps As in the Samawah station, it is used all year round.

Winds are fast.

At Mosul Station, turbines can be installed in the poles to charge the batteries for street lighting from February to August due to wind speed in the same months.
