The study aimed at defining the concept of "New Atheism", its characteristics and its major characters.
In addition, the study aimed at demonstrating the most important means of advocacy and teaching that are followed by the so-called new atheists.
Therefore, the study aimed at displaying the role of Islamic education confronting "New Atheism".
To do so, the two researchers adopted the descriptive analytical approach to describe the features and means of new atheism and the deductive approach to elicit the role of Islamic education in confronting it.
The study yielded a number of findings, the most important of which are: (1) the terms "New Atheism" is the journalist Gary Wolf's coinage to describe the ideas adopted by the 21st century atheists and to express the status of intellectual denial and its results to all religious beliefs such as having the faith in Allah, his messages and his messengers.
The new term "New Atheism" depends on the new science in presenting its evidence, away from philosophical schools and ideologies.
Such term is characterized by its characters, methods and use of modern technology to attack all religions in general and Islam in specific.
The New Atheism has many means of advocacy like; writing and publications, social and scientific activities and presence on TV and social media.
In this regard, Islamic education does not only have an important role in presenting safety measures such as doctrinal thinking promotion, highlighting the Islamic identity and integrated-self making, but it also has an important role in treating that by solving social problems, promoting social interactions, presenting Islamic alternatives in behavior and though, making use of modern technology in confronting atheism and presenting the true picture of Islam.
