Abstract EN

The study aims to identify the semiotics of the Return Marches Journalistic photos on the websites of "Israeli" daily newspapers, Haaretz and Israel Hayom, In terms of its topics, objectives, sources, their Symbolic semantics,their types, sizes, and Accentuating elements.

This is a descriptive study that adopted the media survey method through using content analysis, and the method of studying mutual relations which involved methodological comparison.

The two researchers employed Agenda Setting Theory and employed a content analysis form tool.

The sample of two researchers sources included the websites of the Israeli daily newspapers (Haaretz, Israel Hayom), using a purposive sample technique, by choosing the Friday of every week, resulting in 72 days, during the study period spanning over a year and a half from 31/3/2018 to 31/9/2019.

The Haaretz newspaper website paid more attention to the pictures of the return marches, and published (168) pictures, compared to (160) pictures on the "Israel Hayom" website,The two sites agreed to display the symbol of the separation fence by (23.6%).

The largest reliance of the study sites was on foreign news agencies at a rate of (56.4%), and the percentage of affiliated photos on the two sites was (94.5%), compared to (4.6%) for personal photos.

Israel Hayom did not publish independent photos, while Haaretz did not publish objective photos.

The two sites also presented the images in the single-image style by (64.6%), followed by the series of images by (28.7%), and as a successive scene by (6.7%).

(0.6%) only for the square shape, and they approved large size images (49.1%).
