Abstract EN

This research seeks to investigate the issue of translating Qur'anic verses in which a single word may have two possible opposite meanings in Arabic.

The main concern of this study is to examine the various errors that exist in Qur'anic translations in the process of transferring opposite words.

The occurrence of such errors can be explained by the existence of two opposite meanings in the word being translated.

For this very reason, the translators often take one of these meanings, and neglect the other.

The issues faced by the translators of the Holy Quran can be summed up in ten points: literal translation, the translators' lack of knowledge of interpreters and linguists' disagreement concerning the meaning of the word, generalization of word meaning, specification of word meaning, the focus on transferring basic meanings and the negligence of secondary meanings, the absence of the word in the target language that faithfully expresses the same meaning in the source language, taking the most logical than the two opposite meanings, the translator personal interpretation, and not translating the word of opposite meanings either intentionally or inadvertently.
