English Abstract
The banking sector is considered as an important economic lever in Morocco; it is characterized by the omnipresence of the conventional banks.
As ethics’ perception towards Islam religion has emerged and as conventional banks had demonstrated some limitations, Islamic finance came out as an alternative to counter the financial issues generated by these banks.
Recently, Islamic banking has become a reality.
It is expanding all over the world and being accepted by both Muslim and Non-Muslim countries.
But what if Islamic banks emerge in Morocco and become a significant component of the Moroccan financial system.
Will Moroccans give up the conventional banking system and adopt Islamic finance services? This research is an attempt to provide a better understanding of the main factors that will lead Moroccan banks’ customers to switch from conventional banks to Islamic banks.
A questionnaire was distributed in Casablanca and was filled by 350 respondents.
Multiple regression analysis was used and the findings revealed that subjective norms, attitude and religiosity are the main factors driving customers to switch from conventional to Islamic banks in Morocco.
