Abstract EN

This study aims at exploring the health concepts included in Jordanian Science text-books of the sixth and seventh grades.

To achieve the aim of the study, a list of health concepts, with (44) concepts, distributed over five health domains (Physical, Psychological, Societal, Environmental, and Nutritional) were proposed.

The study main findings are : 1-The total frequencies of health concepts included in the text-books of the sixth and the seventh grade were respectively (29) and (13) health concepts, with the total frequencies of (228) and (107).

2-There were differences in the total frequencies of health concepts that can be attributed to the variable of the class level, and in favor of the sixth-grade book (part1).

3-There were differences in the total frequencies of health concepts in regard to the five-health domain, in favor of the environmental health domain.

Based upon these findings, a number of recommendations were suggested ; in particular the need to focus on some concepts that are, to some extent, neglected or with less frequencies according to the proposed list of health concepts.
