Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the impact of the use of the refocusing and reasoning probing questions strategy in teaching Islamic Education in the achievement and the development of creative thinking skills of students in the first secondary in Jordan.

The study followed the quasi-experimental approach in which the researcher has designed an achievement test as well as a creative thinking skills test.

The sample consisted of scientific first secondary students at Omar bin Khattab School, Qasabat Amman Directorate, for the first semester of 2015/2016.

The study sample were divided into three groups: the control group studied in accordance with the normal way of teaching, and two experimental groups: the first experimental group which studied in accordance with the refocusing probing questions.

he second experimental group studied in accordance with the reasoning probing questions.

The results indicated the presence of statistically significant differences on academic achievement test and the creative thinking skills test, and in favour of the two experimental groups, and the presence of statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group that learned using refocusing questions in the total of the creative thinking skills.

The study has provided a set of recommendations such as training the teachers of Islamic education on how to use the strategy of probing questions.
