Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the possibility of application of the balance scorecard as a tool for evaluating the performance of the Gaza Electricity Distribution Corporation GEDC.

To achieve the objectives of the study a questionnaire, fit for this purpose, was designed and distributed to the staff of the GEDC with all its branches.

The study was based on the analytical descriptive method.

The most important findings of the study are the following: Firstly, There is a possibility of application of the Balance Scorecard with its four dimensions with varying degrees but the learning and growth dimension had a negative impact.

Secondly, the corporation applies reliable financial performance measures related to the strategy of the corporation.

The GEDC also applies non-financial performance measures that can be classified under the dimensions of the Balance Scorecard.

The study concluded some recommendations including the following: First, The administration of the Corporation has to support and adopt the application of the balance scorecard as a comprehensive and integrated system of strategic administration through forming specialized teams capable of implementing the balance scorecard.

Second, There is a need to take care of the human resources and hold training courses that contribute to the increasing the efficiency of the staff.
