The study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of a program in Biological sciences based on blended learning in developing achievement, some life skills and critical thinking for secondary- one students.
Group of the study consisted of 70 secondary-one students, who were divided into two matching groups: one experimental composed of 35 students; and the other control, composed of another 35 students.
The tools and materials of the study involved a program in biological sciences based on blended learning that includes: an educational website, a student’s handbook, a teacher’s guide, an achievement test, two tools for measuring life skills (i.e.
life skills test and an observation sheet), and a critical thinking test.
The present study reached the following conclusions: 1) there is a statistically significant difference at the level 0.01 level between the means of scores of the experimental group students in both the pre and post- administration of the achievement test, for the post-administration.
2) There is a statistically significant difference at the 0.01 level between the means of scores of both the experimental and the control group in the post-administration of the achievement test, for the experimental group.
3) There is a statistically significant difference at the level 0.01 between the means of scores of the experimental group students in both the pre and post- administration of the life-skills test, for the post-administration.
4) There is a statistically significant difference at the 0.01 level between the means of scores of both the experimental and the control group in the post-administration of the life-skills test, for the experimental group.
5) There is a statistically significant difference at the level 0.01 between the means of scores of the experimental group students in both the pre and post- administration of the critical-thinking test, for the post-administration.
6) There is a statistically significant difference at the level 0.01 between the means of scores of both the experimental group and the control group in the post-administration of the critical-thinking test, for the experimental group.
