This study was conducted to identify the reality of high school contribution in developing economic awareness of their students, stand on the challenges that they confront when seeking to develop the economic awareness of their students and identify the means that could be implemented in enhancing its contribution to the development of the economic awareness of their students.

The study employed the descriptive approach and administred a survey to a population of (5961) teachers working at public secondary schools in Riyadh.

Using cluster method, a random sample of (298) teachers representing 5% of the study population was selected.

Findings revealed moderate approval of the study sample regarding the current standing of high school contribution in the development of the economic awareness of their students.

Schools’ most important contributions came in the following descending order: instilling time respect as an economic value, highlighting the dangers of extravagance and money waste and inciting students to respect work.

While seeking to play their role, schools are confronted with major challenges; namely: the spread of the phenomenon of liking external appearances, the negative impact of media which conveys messages which support the culture of consumption and the contradiction between practices and ethics taught at school and those advocated at home.

Schools’ key means to reinforce their role include opening their doors for successful businesses to expose their experience so that students can benefit from such activities.

Schools also could hold training programs to promote economic awareness and activate the role of student guidance to help students define their objectives
