Abstract EN

This study was conducted to investigate the differences between superior and non-superior Saudi university students in parental treatment styles and emotional intelligence and the relationship between parental treatment styles and emotional intelligence.

The study used a population sample of (230) Saudi university students.

The following tools were used for data collection: 1) Parental Treatment Styles Scale (prepared by the researcher).

2) Emotional Intelligence Scale prepared by Al-Akaishy (2003).

The statistical methods used for data analysis were: Pearson's correlation coefficient, Mann-Whitney test and t-Test.

The researcher used the SPSS program for statistical analysis.

Findings revealed that there are no statistically significant difference between superior and non-superior Saudi university students in positive parental treatment styles.

Furthermore, there are no statistically significant differences between superior and non-superior Saudi university students in negative parental treatment styles.

In addition, there are no statistically significant differences between superior and non-superior Saudi university students in emotional intelligence.

There is a correlation between emotional intelligence and positive parental treatment styles of superior Saudi university students, whereas there is no correlation between emotional intelligence and negative parental treatment styles of non-superior Saudi university students
