This paper explores the quality level of the working conditions of employees on tourist’s establishments in central Cairo, Egypt A number of socio-economic variables affecting the employees’ environment in the tourism industry were assessed in details.
The study evaluates and tests these variables during times of great instability in Egypt (after Egypt’s first revolution wave in 2011).
The effective use of crisis management approaches and their impact on the welfare of employees was a primary conccrn for this research.
The primary findings confirmed die overall high level of dissatisfaction of employees with their working conditions.
The absence of efficient crisis handling policies were considered as an overriding factor affecting employee’s negative perception towards their working environment after the first Egyptian revolution wave.
