Abstract EN

Oman has give a great attention to people with disabilities through provision the care and support to them by all and different means.

Visual impairment is the one of the most painful types of disabilities thus, we have to help them as we can in all field specially in education field.

There is no doubt that using assistive techniques are necessary to teach the visual Impaired students, as using assistive technology is considered a key factor for their successful in education and to improve the academic level for them.

Study problem has crystallized the need to assess the efficiency of the assistive technology to meet the needs and satisfaction of visual disabled students at Sultan Qaboos University , the study aimed to evaluate the assistive technologies used in sultan Qaboos university , as well as to try to identify the difficulties faced the students in using assistance technology.

This study is considered an evaluative study that depends on social survey method for all blind students in the university.

The results showed many issues about the assistive technologies used in the university such as The abundance of assistive technology in the university whether personal or in the college laboratories and labs for students themselves.

Also, students showed dissatisfaction with the educational methods used by most staff members as well as there is no guidebook for the use of these assistive technologies
