Abstract EN

This aim of the study is to find out the status of crisis management at public Jordanian Universities in North Jordan as perceived by faculty members.

To achieve the study objective, the descriptive approach is used.

The study tool is a questionnaire that included five domains: planning (8 items), information (5 items), communications (5 items), decision making (5 items) and crisis management team (5 items).

The population of the study consist of (2119) faculty members at Yarmouk University, Jordan University of Science and Technology and Al albait University The number of the study sample is (240) faculty members chosen by stratified random sampling from the population of the study The results showed that the faculty members’ perception of the status of crisis management is average.

The order of the five domains is as follows: communication, planning, decision making, crisis management team and information There were statistical significant in the degree of the faculty members’ perception of the status of crisis management due to collage , gender (male/female).

There were no statistical significant due to academic rank The study mainly recommended establishing specialized teams in crisis management to deal with university crisis, make action plans in advance to manage crisis and train employees and the necessity to increase communication between university and different local community organizations via mass media.
