Abstract EN

The purpose of this study was to identify the level of parental involvement among the students of the upper basic stage at the public schools in Rusaifa in the light of the variables of gender and the grade level.

The study also aimed at identifying the predictive ability of the parental involvement in the academic motivation.

The sample of the study consisted of (929) male and female students at the public schools in Rusaifa in Jordan.

To achieve the objectives of the study two scales were developed and adopted, the parental involvement scale and the academic motivation scale, after proving their validity and reliability.

Results showed that school - based involvement level was moderate, while home - based involvement and general involvement levels were low.

Moreover, home - based involvement level was higher for males than females, and higher for 9th grade students than 7th grade students.

The results also showed that there were no significant statistical differences in the school - based involvement level due to the variables of the students’ gender or grade level.

The results also showed that there were statistical differences in the parental involvement as a whole, due to the variable of the student’s gender, in favor of males.

The results indicated that home-based involvement had predictive ability in the academic motivation among upper basic stage students, while school-based involvement had no predictive ability in the academic motivation.
