Abstract EN

This paper seeks to discuss the presentation of the ideological (Islamic and the other) discourse in the novel "The Journey of IbnFatoumah" by Naguib Mahfouz, which is committed to trying to change the reality and deal with the new ideological propositions by describing this reality, analyzing and dismantling it and, hence,reconstructing it.

Thus, new themes are to be added, which are y is a discourse related to a specific reference; that is a dominant authoritarian discourse of an existing regime or a political or cultural party, that supports, contradicts or criticizes it peacefully, regardless of being intentionally supporting the continuity of that regime or that party, or to the destruction of its foundations.

The researcher sought to analyze these rhetorical discourse binaries (I and the other) included in this novel, and, on the basis of the structural approach, monitored all its patterns.

The researcher found that the novel succeeded technically in providing all indicators to achieving its purpose in decoding the rhetorical symbolism and of distorting all forms of authority and its actionsin addition to the the actions of all those who play an important role in shaping the underlying structure of this ideological discourse.

The novel has adopted very precise mechanisms to achieve this precise equation, since those data that move within the circle of some propositions or others are classically defined in terms of belonging to the category of actors (politically and socially) within the narrative fabric.
