Abstract EN

This study presents a list of endowed books on Al-Aqsa Mosque Library in Jerusalem, based mainly on the list contained/mentioned in one of the Jerusalem court's records, which No.(64), dated on 16 Dhu al-Hijjah 992 AH, 1584 AD.

Where the copy of the endowed argument mentioned in the record contained a collection of books, which endowed to Al-Aqsa Mosque and in the Mosque’s Library in that period.

The books have included a variety of topics; some of them are specialized in jurisprudence, others in Hadiths, Language and literature, philosophy, and other sciences.

These books were distinguished by their originality, as they became references used by other works in later eras; especially that these books were for senior authors such as al-Tahawi, Imam al-Bukhaari, Imam Muslim, Ibn al-Fared, and others.

The aim of this study is to show a side of cultural life that prevailed in the Jerusalem city during the tenth century AH/ Sixteenth century AD.

The list of the books reflects the pattern of scientific interest in the city, where those endowed books were under the disposal of scientific students who went to Jerusalem to study in the mosque.

By following a methodology that described what is stated in the Sharia court records, and to proof the information about the endowment books in the records then analyze it to obtain results.
