Les erreurs de la traduction du sens du Coran en Français le cas de : Jacques Berque

Abstract EN

This paper sheds light on the errors in transmitting the meanings of the Holy Quran into the French language.

We focused on translation by one of the French orientalists, who was a member of the Egyptian Arabic Language Academy, that is, the famous orientalist Jacques Berk.

We have examined several mistakes made by the French Orientalist, which came as result of the influence by several factors such as his lack of understanding of some of the rules of the Arabic language and rhetoric.

Besides, he was influenced with the Bible and its expressions; this led him to use many non-Islamic terms and words, which had a great effect in distorting the Quranic meaning.

In addition, his denial of the illiteracy of the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.

This was evident when the meanings of the Qur'an were transferred into French.

There are some other errors that the translator made during the translation, which is conducted by this research and study.
