Abstract EN

The verse ﴾There is no compulsion in religion﴿ was the fundamental base of Islamic modern exegetes and jurists to proof the absolute of religious freedom in Islam, without any compulsion or coercion.

However, this importance was disturbed and confused by some opinions of some traditional and modern exegetes, who invalidated the inference of this verse on the issue of religious freedom, when they consider this verse abrogated or restricted.

Also all the previous studies came to the same conclusion.

There is no doubt that such opinions open the door to claim that Islam permits religious compulsion, which may exploited by some of those who seek to accuse the Sharia of intolerance and contradiction with the principles of human instinct.

So I decided to study these opinions accurately to clarify whither this verse is abrogated, restricted or certain until the Day of Judgment.

I depended of some curricula such as: inductive, analytic and critical approaches.

This research is divided into preface, four chapters, conclusion and index of sources.

The preface contains a quick look of freedom of religion in modern times, the previous studies, the paradox of the research, and its parts.

The first chapter dealt with the interpretations of the verse words` and the reasons of its revelation.

Then the second chapter discussed exegetes` opinion about abrogation and restriction to specific category of people, and discussed their evidences.

The last chapter dealt with exegetes` opinion about certainty.

Finally, the conclusion contained the results of the research, which ended to that this holy verse is certain until the Day of Judgment.
