Abstract EN

This paper aims to investigate the relationship between unemployment and economic growth in Algeria.

this relationship has been greatly found out and explained by the economist `` Arthur Okun `` In order to econometrically study this phenomenon , the vector autoregression (VAR) model and and the Granger causality test were used.

The study concluded that there is a negative and significant effect of economic growth on unemployment expressing the sensitivity of unemployment to change in economic growth.

In addition, there is a unidirectional causal relationship running from economic growth to unemployment.
