This research discusses Tareem City in the historical sources.

This research aims to introduce Tareem City which considered one of the ancient historical cities and still inhabited in Hadhramout, what made me write about this city was chosen it as the Capital of Islamic Cultural for the year of 2010.

The research is divided into introduction and four chapters: 1- The introduction, I discussed Tareem as preserved city that makes it in the list of ancient historical cities.

2- Tareem in the inscriptions and traces: In this chapter I discussed the inscriptions and the traces preserved of the ancient history of the city.

3- Tareem in the Islamic and Arab sources: I discussed anything mentioned about Tareem in the thesaurus and in Arab and Muslim historians books.

4- The Inhabitants of the ancient Tareem: In this chapter I discussed the ancient Inhabitants of Tareem depending on the inscriptions and the book of historian Hassan Alhamadani.

5- The historic importance of Tareem city as it mentioned in the sources: I discussed the importance of Tareem in the former times and in the Islamic era since it was from Islamic cities that contributed in serving science and culture.

This research I concluded that Tareem is an ancient and contemporary city as well, which contributed in the development of human knowledge through its scholars, schools and heritage architecture that prompted Islamic Conference Organization to choose Tareem as the Capital of Islamic Cultural for the year of 2010.
