Abstract EN

The present research aimed at investigating the role of faculty members in cultivating the principles of citizenship in order to reduce psychological alienation among students at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University.

The sample of the study included (120) male and female students at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University.

The researcher adopted the correlational descriptive approach as the research methodology.

The study used a questionnaire and the Psychological Alienation Scale as the research instruments.

The study reached several results, the most important of them were the following: Faculty members are cultivating citizenship principles and dimensions among Prince Abdulaziz bin Sattam University students at a (high) degree; the levels of psychological alienation among Prince Abdulaziz bin Sattam University students, from the perspectives of students, were rated (high); and there is a (negative) correlation between citizenship and the level of psychological alienation among Abdulaziz bin Sattam students, with a correlation coefficient of (-.030-).

The researcher presented several recommendations, the most important of them were the following: The necessity of providing educational programs in Saudi universities to combat the psychological alienation phenomenon and provide the necessary psychological support to students; and the necessity of spreading awareness about the importance of citizenship, and that is through educational seminars held by Saudi universities on a regular basis.
