Western historical literature in general and French in particular was distinguished when writing issues related to the history of Algeria, especially those written during the period of the French occupation of Algeria, with many falsifications, distortions and deliberate focus on specific historical periods and neglecting others, which made these writings lose the characteristic of scientific and objective presentation.

After independence in 1962 AD, and in order to establish an Algerian historical school that is nationally oriented and unaffected by the prevailing foreign schools and trends, this necessitated that Algerian historians and researchers bear the task and responsibility of reconsidering the writing of their national history in the most scientific and objective manner, and liberating it from reading and tendentious colonial interpretations through relying on centers Archives and historical documents, and through criticism, scrutiny and sifting of the writings of the Western School, shedding light on all stages of Algerian history that struck deep in history
