Abstract EN

This study is concerned with evaluating the translations of the meanings of the Holy Quran into Turkish Language, Since the change of the Turkish alphabet in 1928 from the Arabic letter to Latin letter until today.

The study aims to shed light on the methods of Quranic translation among Turks, and answer some questions: Do they rely on literal or interpretive translation? And what is the extent of their discipline in transferring the correct meaning from Arabic to Turkish? How did these translators deal with problematic language issues, such as deletion, metaphor, pronoun reference and Sentence context? How did they deal with the issue of language reasoning differences between Arabic and Turkish? What are the flaws in these translations? Why did these translators decided on using the term “Meâl” instead of “Translation of the Qur'an”? Can we classify these translations into groups? What are the best translations in terms of language accuracy in meaning interpretation from the original? What are the most famous translations which are unreliable? What are the reasons for this unreliability? This study is based on the descriptive analytical approach; We analyzed some examples of Turkish translations of metaphor in some Qur'anic verses.
