Abstract EN

The paper aims to study the virtuous ghazal in the Abbasid age, a classical trend in the Arabic poetry when compared to the modern poetry, which is notorious for the shrinking of the virtuous ghazal that colored that Umayyad age.

The study focuses on studying the poetry of Alhussain bin MuteerAlasadi, a vetran Baddyiahpoet whose lifespan witnessed Umayyad and the early beginnings of the Abbasid ages.

The researcher has reached a conclusion that a great deal the ghazalpoetry written by the poet was predominately virtuous and its themes ranged from longing, nostalgia, the virtuous meeting, the impact of the sincere love, to the exaggeration of love.

These themes were remarkable features of the old virtuous ghazal and they were circulated in their poetry.

The modern effects of the Abbasid civilizations were not shown in his poetry nor was he affected by the changes occurring to the Abbasid ghazal poetry like the reference to love messages, gifts and female salves.

The poet resort to using rhetorical and environmental images while expressing his ghazal ideas.

The study recommends for doing many critical and literary studies and research in the Abbasid ghazal through applying different methods and tools.
