The present research aims to highlight the points of convergence of two cultures which are most dissimilar, by means of a comparative study of elements of descriptive writing in two literary works: the Fables de La Fontaine, the eminent fabulist of the XVII century, and the Tales of Amadou Hampâté Bâ, the Malian author, ethnologist and historian of the XX century.
This comparative study also intends to trace similarities and differences between both works, by means of exploring differences in the describer-receiver relationship, as well as, techniques used to incorporate description in fables and tales.
Hence, it was necessary to shed light on the role which the descriptive style plays in both cases.
Several literary and critical references, other references about storytelling and its techniques, and reliable websites are used throughout the recent research
Abstract FRE
La recherche vise à tracer les traits d’union entre deux cultures complètement différentes et ce par le biais d’une étude binaire de la description entre deux corpus à savoir: les Fables de La Fontaine , l’éminent fabuliste du XVII siècle, et les contes d’Amadou Hampâté Bâ, l’auteur, l’ethnologue et l’historien malien du XXe siiècle.
L’étude comparative vise à tracer les traits de ressemblances et de divergences entre la description du fabuliste et du conteur dans leurs ouvrages.
Et ce à travers une étude de la différence du contrat descripteur-descriptaire dans les deux corpus, de même qu’une étude des techniques d’insertion des passages descriptifs dans les fables et les contes.
Une étude du thème-titre et des fonctions de la description est indispensable dans notre étude.
Le recours aux ouvrages littéraires et narratologiques était une nécessité dans notre étude de même que les sites internet fiables.
