Translation is a vast domain of knowledge, of exchange and of interdependence; this is due to its complexity, to its belongings to all areas of thought and human activity, and to its immense cultural and literary impact.
Literary translation requires a lot of language skills from the translator: it must reflect the original message, be understandable and enjoyable to read.
It must be an equivalence between the text of the source language and the target language.
The translator must also consider several constraints (context, grammar, translation techniques such as adaptation, linguistic amplification, compensation, omissions and borrowing) in order to generate ideas and to express emotions of the original text.
This study aims to reveal the difference between the concept of fidelity and the influence of the "Interpretative Theory", or "Theory of meaning", sometimes called "Theory of the School of Paris", through the analysis of some excerpts from Abdullah Thabit's novel "The Terrorist N° 20" and their translation from Arabic (Saudi Arabia) into French by Françoise Neyrod.
The translator seeks to restore the exact meaning that the author wants to express in his novel and to produce the same effect, but there is the problem of fidelity to the original.
The study intends to shed light on the processes used by the translator to carry out this mission while we propose a translation which seems to be closer to the original text.

Par le fait de sa complexité, par son appartenance à tous les domaines de la pensée et de l’activité humaine, par son immense incidence culturelle et littéraire, la traduction, constitue un large domaine de savoir, d’échanges et d’interdépendance.
La traduction littéraire exige beaucoup de compétences linguistiques de la part du traducteur : elle doit être fidèle, compréhensible et agréable à lire.
C’est plutôt une équivalence entre le texte de la langue source et la langue cible.
Le traducteur doit aussi tenir compte d’un certain nombre de contraintes (contexte, grammaire, technique de la traduction comme l’adaptation, l’amplification linguistique, la compensation, l’omission et l’emprunt) afin de générer les idées et les émotions du texte original.
Cette étude vise à dévoiler la différence entre le concept de fidélité et l’influence de la « Théorie interprétative », ou « Théorie du sens », que l’on appelle parfois « Théorie de l’École de Paris », à travers l’analyse de quelques extraits du roman d’Abdullah Thabit « Le Terroriste N°20 » et de leur traduction de l’arabe (Arabie Saoudite) par Françoise Neyrod.
La traductrice cherche à restituer le sens exact que l’auteur veut exprimer dans son roman et à produire le même effet, mais se pose le problème de la fidélité à l’original.
Cette étude tâche de jeter la umière sur les procédés qu’elle a utilisés pour mener à bien cette mission, tout en proposant une traduction qui nous paraît plus fidèle.
