Effect of some disinfectant solutions either alone or in presence of other’s against salmonella typhimurium

The present study was conducted to compare between the effect of commonly used single disinfectant or mixed double disinfectants.

Each mixture contained two disinfectants at a concentration resembling that used in the field, at a percentage of 75 % as the principal disinfectant and 25 % from other disinfectant.

In addition to same amount of each was done (each 50 %).

The disinfectants were applied in laboratory test tubes and on prescribed areas of painted cement-wall of poultry house that heavily contaminated by Salmonella typhimurium (4.22 X 107cfu / cm2).

The result in test tubes revealed that all disinfectants eliminated Salmonella typhimurium except in case of QAC and chlorine (3 : 1).

In painted concrete wall unequal mixture of disinfectants revealed that formalin, commercial phenol and chloroxylenol negatively affected that of sodium hypochlorite (principal).

In addition, sodium hypochlorite affected iodophors and quaternary ammonium compounds (principals), as well as chloroxylenol (principal) was affected negatively by added formalin and commercial phenol lastly, the equal quantities of the different disinfectants were succeeded in elimination of Salmonella typhimurium except phenol and chlorine.
