The drug problem is considered one of the problems that threatens the security and stability of societies, and no society has escaped from it on the face of the globe, whether it is drug-producing societies, consuming societies or societies that use their lands as transit areas.

This prompted scientists from all specialties to pay attention to this scourge, and to try to explain the motives for drug abuse and addiction, as well as studying and analyzing the effects and damages can this problem causes on the individual and into entire society.

In this regard, economists took an interest in the drug problem, trying to understand the phenomenon from an economic perspective, and highlighting the economic problems and damages that this problem causes to producing and consuming countries that are used as transit areas.

Therefore, we will try in this paper to highlight the point of view of economists on the economic motive for drug abuse, and the economic consequences of this scourge on individuals and societies.
