Abstract EN

Like other Islamic cities, Telmcen was rich of culture and scientific activities.

This ancient city has seen many small and major scientifict houses which stimulated the intellectual cultural and religious life in Tlemcen over the centuries.

Among these small houses, Ibn El-Imam’s house which is considered to be the most famous scientific house which spead in the domain of science and specialized in jurisprudence mainly.

So, the sons of this house took it upon themselves and developed its knowledge.

They were characterized by strong memory in which they relied in the study of the principles of Islamic jurisprudence through which they got a high status in the sultans of Beni Ziane who encouraged science and scientists.

They also made their city a centre for scholars and jurists from every direction.

The Telemcenian family of Ibn El-Imam gave birth to the jurists who inherited the science from grandfather to father.

So, they contributed to the promotion of scientific and cultural movement in Beni Ziane era through their scientific debates in the court of government.

They also brought scientific books of an important value to their countries via scientific trips that led them to the countries of the East and the West to seek science and evolve it as well as to take science from the Imams of there.

Hence, they introduced Oriental books and directed the movement of authorship to El Imam.

So, their scientific and their position were prominent in Telemcen Zayani
