Abstract EN

This study aims at showing the importance of the Islamic Waqf as a mechanism to financing the higher education sector, in the light of governments’ inability to meet with their financial needs for this type of funding, which negatively affects the quality of the educational process outputs, characterized by globalization and competitiveness, and requires the search for diversification of funding sources, as we go through the review of the distinguished experiences of both Saudi Arabia and Turkey, using descriptive and comparative approaches.

The study has concluded that the scientific Waqf in its various forms has contributed significantly to the establishment and development of universities and has met with the needs of scientific research in both countries.
