Abstract EN

This study aims to review the legal development of independent monitoring of elections in Algeria to the independent national elections authority.

According to Article 141 of the Constitution, the Algerian legislator has introduced a new mechanism to maintain the transparency and neutrality of the elections.

It established the Independent National Authority to replace the Independent Supreme Electoral Observatory, which replaced both the National Judicial Committee to oversee elections and the National Political Committee for Monitoring Elections, and Organic Law 19-07 related to the Independent Authority was issued on September 15, 2019 after it was ratified by two chambers of Parliament.
