Abstract EN
This work expounds the evaluation of the Upper Qishn Clastic Formation in Masila Basin, Republic of Yemen.
The scope of this evaluation is to study its petrophysical properties and hydrocarbon potentiality using well logs data from 13 wells.
The well log evaluation has been achieved by using Interactive Petrophysics TM Program (IP).
It includes the estimation of petrophysical parameters viz porosity (total φt and effective φe), shale content (Vsh), water saturation (Sw), hydrocarbon saturation (Sh), lithological composition, determination of reservoir and net pay parameters.
The results were represented in the form of litho-saturation cross plots and distribution contour maps.
Based on the obtained results, the Qishn Formation consists of sandstone with considerable amount of shale.
The shaly sand intervals have good storage capacity, since they have mean total porosity (10-19%), mean effective porosity (9-18%), and mean shale content (10-21%) .The mean net reservoir thickness (120-240 ft) is with a regular distribution and general decreasing towards the south.
Accordingly, the better chances for more hydrocarbon storage and net pay values may exist in the west portions that have good petrophysical parameters
