Abstract EN

The subject of the training and human resources development is one of the topics concerned the development of professional specialist performance in different scientific fields mainly in field of library and information.

Through field study, we have carried out on the Central Library of the University of Algiers 3 “Ibrahim Sultan Chibout”.

We highlight the importance of self and continuous training of the information specialist to acquire new skills and to develop his own self and professional capacities to keep up with recent developments in the field of libraries and documentation in this library, and to assess the extent of information specialist on the adoption of self and continuous training to keep pace with these changes, to achieve continuity of service in the growth and to improve professional performance.

We used the descriptive approach based on observation, interview and questionnaire as tools to collect data.

This enables us to reach the results in its entirety that self and continuous training of information specialist is to achieve a high quality services in university libraries and improve his professional performance.

In addition to university training of the information specialist is adequate with his tasks.
