Abstract EN

The current Corona virus pandemic has its consequences on the different elements of information scene, including the human suffering as a result of the information overload, information disorder and infodemic as an emerging concept.

These have resulted from spreading of false information (misinformation) generally on the web and the social media platforms in particular.

This study aimed at identifying some of the information seeking behaviors of students of library and information science in Egypt concerning the use of information and its sources, information sharing on the web in general and social media platforms in particular, and the status of information literacy among students especially those related to evaluation of the relevance of corona-related information with special focus on information available through social media platforms.

The study attempted to provide some guidance to enhance the students’ information literacy skills, especially the skills related to dealing with misinformation during crises.
