Abstract EN

The article is made of three parts: part one covers the technical aspects of COVID-19 including the actions that need to be considered to limit its spread among people.

The second part is the guidance to libraries to deal with the virus during the reopening of library services including the place, the workers and the users in the library.

The third part of the article deals with the post-COVID-19 era and the actions that libraries need to consider including: the need to revisit all structures and activities in the library for better evaluation, the information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure in libraries, building informative websites and social media presence for the libraries, moving towards using emergency task forces and remote work, using experts from Jordan and abroad, networking, collaboration and sharing resources, continuous education and training for library staff, teaching library and information specialists to meet the needs and challenges of the future, digitization of Arabic scientific content, learning foreign languages, support and adopt open access policies and building digital institutional repositories, support information literacy programs and research and publishing by librarians.

Toward the end, the article recognizes the need for libraries to act during the pandemic and to learn and change in the post-pandemic era.
