Abstract EN

This study aims to study the phenomenon of the rise of the superpowers in the international system by relying on ideational factors rather than on material factors, China was chosen as a study case.

Over the past years, China has improved its power position .However; it has refused to play the role of “super power”.

Yet, this has begun to change with a series of changes at the domestic and foreign levels that have led China to embark on a normative process of ascension in the international system in order to recognize its own role as a superpower.
